About Matt Hundley

Picture
Matt Hundley is a musician from the Gales Creek, Oregon.  He started playing piano and singing at the age of 6, and soon added violin and guitar.  The first songs he learned were gospel songs that he heard at church, which he learned to play on an old upright piano that most of his family played.  Growing up in a rural part of Oregon, he was exposed to a lot of traditional music, especially bluegrass, gospel, and old time fiddle.  He continued learning not only the traditional Americana genres, but classical, country, and jazz as well.  As his musical education progressed, he played in orchestras, choirs, churches, and bands throughout the Northwest and also in Texas.

Past groups include the Early Bird Orchestra, several years with the MCO Productions pit orchestra, the Metropolitan Youth Symphony, the Hillsboro Symphony Orchestra, the Da Capo Choir, the 11:01 Band in San Antonio, and multiple church groups.

He presently plays solo as a singer songwriter; with the popular honky-tonk country group the Branded Band, in a gospel duo called the Hundley Brothers, and for the Portland Community College Chamber Ensemble.  He also works as a studio musician, music teacher, Creative Director for Wasco Publishing, and runs several music websites, including www.indiemusicreview.org and www.indiemusictools.net.
